The strategic tie-up between Starlux and Alaska Airlines goes beyond seamless bag transfers and connecting flights. Alaska Airlines loyalists are currently the only ones with immediate access to Starlux award flights, and the starting rates are favorable.
To book a Starlux award flight, you’ll first need to sign up for an account with the Alaska Airlines loyalty program, Mileage Plan. Anyone can sign up and create an account. Then, you’ll have three ways to earn Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles.
The first is by flying Alaska Airlines or any oneworld or partner carrier. The second is by applying for an Alaska Airlines credit card. At the moment, the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card offers a welcome bonus of 50,000 bonus miles plus buy one ticket, get one for just the taxes and fees ($0 fare plus taxes and fees from $23) after spending $3,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of account opening. Lastly, Bilt Rewards members can also transfer points to their Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan accounts at a 1:1 ratio. The Bilt World Elite Mastercard® is known for being the only card on the market that allows you to pay rent with a credit card with no transaction fees.
Once you have enough miles, you’ll want to follow the screenshots provided below to redeem them. Begin by entering your city pairs, which in this case, are Seattle and Taipei, followed by your intended travel date.

From here, you’ll want to select the day with the best award space and rate. Please note that Starlux Business Class awards can range from 75,000 to 350,000 miles. The best value is clearly 75,000 miles which I was able to find during my sample search. It’s often hard to pin down, however, so I would recommend booking quickly if you do find this rate.
To complete the booking process, simply provide your traveler information and confirm your itinerary before paying any taxes and fees.
