Custom Actions: Expand what your apps can do with AI
The era of being confined by app limitations or technical knowledge is over. With AI-powered Custom Actions, you can create new actions for existing Zapier integrations.
With a short description, AI will help you design an action that perfectly works with your unique workflow, such as removing tasks from a project in Asana or archiving Pipedrive leads.
With Custom Actions, you can:

Add new actions as you create Zaps. You can add new custom actions to your apps without losing your spot in the Zap editor. Once you publish your action, you can immediately start using it in your Zap.

Reuse your custom actions across Zaps. After you publish a custom action, you can reuse it where you need it. And if you’re on a team or Zapier Enterprise plan, you can easily share and reuse actions with your teammates.

Create custom actions with AI Copilot. Tell our AI-powered assistant what you’d like your action to do, and Copilot will create it for your workflows. There’s no need to know any technical lingo or how to code to get started!

How to create a Custom Action
If you can describe the action you want, you can create almost any Custom Action.
Here’s how it works:

In the Zap editor, add an action step to your Zap, then select your app.

Select your app, then in the Event dropdown menu, click Create Action.

The Custom Actions builder will open in a new browser tab. On the left-hand side, AI Copilot will ask you to describe the custom action you’d like to create. For example, if you’re creating a custom action for Slack, you might say something like, “I want this action to get all reactions to a message. I want to see who reacted and what emoji was used so I can filter on it in another Zap step.”

To the right of AI Copilot, you can see your custom action come to life. You can test your action and ask Copilot to change it, such as changing field order, adjusting the results it returns, and more.

Once you’re happy with your custom action, publish and add it to your Zap!
