Chase United Business Card Review – Forbes Advisor

Some people may find The New United℠ Business Card an obvious choice, but if not, these alternate cards might be a better fit.

The New United℠ Business Card vs. United Club℠ Business card*

It’s a big upgrade moving from the United Business card to the United Club℠ Business card*, but for frequent flyers, it’s worth taking. For one thing, the card’s base earning rate jumps up. You’ll earn 5 miles per dollar spent on prepaid hotel stays booked directly through Renowned Hotels and Resorts, 2 miles per dollar spent on United purchases and 1.5 miles per dollar spent on all other purchases. You’ll also earn PQP more quickly (1 PQP for $15 spent) and can earn statement credits for partner purchases at higher levels.

By far, though, the headlining difference between these cards is the United Club Business card’s included membership to United Clubs, letting you access these airport lounges (with a guest) when flying United. For someone who travels often, that can be a welcome benefit. However, the annual fee on the Club Business card jumps quite a bit, to $695 per year.

The New United℠ Business Card vs. Capital One Spark Miles for Business

If you’re looking for a business card with a simple earning structure, the Capital One Spark Miles for Business card could be the one you want. This card earns 2 miles per dollar on every purchase and 5 miles per dollar on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.

Capital One miles can be transferred to more than 15 travel transfer partners. Though United isn’t a transfer partner, Capital One allows transfers to multiple Star Alliance airlines. You can transfer your miles to Air Canada Aeroplan, Avianca LifeMiles, EVA Infinity MileageLands, Singapore KrisFlyer, TAP Miles&Go and Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles and then use these miles to book United (or other) award flights.

The New United℠ Business Card vs. Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card

The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card is effectively another way to earn United miles through card spending, but with a different earning structure and more flexible redemptions, both of which could be an advantage for your business. You’ll earn 3 points per dollar on the first $150,000 spent on travel and select business categories each account anniversary year and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases. That’s better than the 2 United miles per dollar you can earn on a smaller set of bonus categories using the United Business Card.

All rewards are earned as Chase Ultimate Rewards®. These points are transferable to United Airlines and other loyalty programs at a 1:1 ratio. Alternatively, you can redeem points for cash back at 1 cent each or redeem points at a rate of 1.25 cents each toward travel booked directly through Chase Travel℠. That means you have the flexibility to transfer rewards to United when awards are cheap or book through the portal when cash fares are a better deal.
