New cardholders of the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card will get $250 to use on Capital One Travel in the first cardholder year, plus earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. This card already offered the 75,000 bonus points after reaching the spending requirement which was a solid welcome offer, especially for a $95 annual fee card (rates & fees).
However, for a limited time, new cardholders will get a one-time $250 Capital One Travel welcome credit when they open an account. You can use this credit on any travel bookings within the Capital One Travel portal, including flights, hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars.
If you were to redeem your 75,000 points from the welcome offer in the travel portal, you’d get a valuation of 1 cent per point—or $750. When combined with the new welcome credit, you’re getting $1,000 toward travel by opening an account. If you want outsized value from your points, you can transfer them to one of 15-plus airline and hotel transfer partners.
Note that the welcome travel credit is valid for one year. If you are booking a hotel stay or rental car in Capital One Travel that costs more than $250, you can simply use the credit to cover part of your booking and use your new card to cover the rest.
