We examined these across six key categories for a total of 17 different metrics. The criteria were then weighted to favor features that are most important to small businesses.

We considered both the initial and renewal prices for registered agent services, along with any supplementary or unforeseen fees, such as unexpected extras. We also considered any guarantees and extra perks. Pricing represents 20% of the final score.
General Features
Thirty percent of our review methodology focused on how providers manage documents, notify the arrival of additional correspondence and whether they alert you to important registration renewal deadlines and urgent documents.
Mobile App
These days, business takes place in far more locations than a single office. Many business owners rely on mobile technology to keep things running smoothly. We made sure to take into consideration whether services offered a mobile app; however, this functionality only accounts for 5% of the score since it doesn’t contribute to the services provided by the actual agent.
Service and Support
In contrast to mobile accessibility, we’ve found that being able to contact live help at any time is an essential part of a top-quality service. We studied the customer support provided by each service, rating them on the number of contact methods, the accessibility of 24/7 support and the presence of a self-help knowledge base. These elements constitute 15% of a provider’s total score.
Ratings and Reviews
To gain an understanding of how users universally feel about each provider, we scrutinized third-party user reviews and ratings. We examined the average rating for each provider and the volume of reviews they gathered. These ratings make up 10% of the total score.
Expert Score
Using our own firsthand experience, we reviewed a variety of metrics such as ease of use, the quality of features and popularity to determine the best services. This expert evaluation comprises the last 20% of the overall rating.
