JetBlue Card Vs. JetBlue Plus Card – Forbes Advisor

Travel on Other Airlines

JetBlue’s credit cards offer the most value to people who are loyal to JetBlue and use the airline for most of their travel. To make the most of either card, but especially the JetBlue Plus Card*, you’ll need to fly on JetBlue at least a couple of times each year.

If you’re more flexible with your choice of airline, another card that offers more generic travel rewards, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, might be a better choice. This card has strong earnings at 5 points per dollar on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 3 points per dollar on dining, select streaming services, and online grocery purchases (excluding Walmart, Target and wholesale clubs), 2 points per dollar on all other travel purchases and 1 point per dollar on other purchases. Ultimate Rewards points can transfer to over a dozen airline and hotel partners, making it a much more versatile option.

Everyday Purchases

Both the JetBlue Card* and JetBlue Plus Card* offer just 1 point per dollar spent on purchases outside of the bonus categories. A TrueBlue point is worth about 1.2 cents each, so a typical cash-back credit card that offers 1.5% or 2% cash back on all purchases will offer more value.

If you’re looking for a card to use on everyday purchases, consider the Chase Freedom Unlimited®, which offers 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 3% cash back on eligible dining and drugstores and 1.5% on all other purchases, plus an additional 1.5% cash back on the first $20,000 in purchases the first year and pairs well with Chase’s travel cards. Or you could consider the Citi Double Cash® Card, which offers 2% cash back on all purchases—1% when purchases are made and another 1% when they’re paid off.
